It is possible to add icons (badges) to individual exhibitor profiles, or add extra columns to Exhibitor List both on EventMap and the standalone exhibitor list page.
Common uses include Social Media Icons (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc) or designations of profiles as belonging to special categories (such as First Time Exhibitor, Green, Sponsor, etc.)
The Custom Company Fields feature is used for this purpose; complete information about configuring Custom Company Fields can be found here.
It is recommended that only a limited number (such as up to 6) of these is displayed at a time, since attendees often find larger numbers of columns overwhelming and confusing, and the list may not display correctly if too wide.
Adding a New Field
Navigate to Companies, Settings, Custom Company Fields.
Make sure to populate the following configurations:
Name: This is used as the Label for the field.
Value Type (Dropdown). Once selected and saved, this field cannot be changed. MAKE SURE TO USE Hyperlink Image field
- Hyperlink Image – this value type accepts URLs and displays the associated Image on the Public Site. The end user can click on the image to go to the input URL. This type must be used to display an icon in the exhibitor list and on the profile.
Logo URL - If you selected Hyperlink Image as your Value Type, then select the image that is to be displayed when the data is provided. Suggested image size is 24 x 24 px. Using a larger image will result in it scaling and displaying incorrectly.
Is Required? Select Yes if the field must be filled in. Select No to make the field optional.
Is Searchable? Select Yes to have the field show up on the Exhibitor Search page. Select No if you do not want attendees to be able to search on this field.
Is Editable? For social media links choose Yes to allow exhibitors to populate it. For special designations choose No to retain the control of who receives the badge.
Display on Profile? Select Yes to allow this field to be displayed for entry (or viewing) in the Exhibitor Console Booth Edit screen.
Display Logo in List? Select Yes to allow the Logo to display in the Exhibitor List.
Display Logo in Profile? Select Yes to allow the Logo to display in the Exhibitor’s Booth Profile.
Display Name on Web? Select Yes to display the name of the field on the Public Site. Select No if you do not want to display the name of the field on the Public Site.
Populating the Field
The field must be populated with a complete URL starting with https://.
- In the case of social media fields this should link to individual exhibitors' social media pages or profiles.
- For special-purpose fields (such as Green or Sponsor) it can be useful to have a page that describes the purpose of the badge, and use that URL for each individual exhibitor.
Troubleshooting
Q: the field does not appear in the searches or in BI Reports
A: make sure at least one response is populated. The field will not be visible in absence of data.
Q: The icon in the image is too big and breaks the list
A: Please upload a smaller icon. It is not auto-resized
Q: The column does not appear in the list
A: Double-check the Value Type column. It will not appear if the type is not Hyperlink Image. If that is the case, a new field must be created and populated.
