Markings are used to indicate a variety of items on the map, and can over lap booths. They describe or highlight an area using color, images, and/or text.

Create a New Marking
From the Floorplan screen, select the Markings Menu on the Right navigation, and fill in the Create form.

- Step 1: Use the map to choose the location of your marking, if you are making a poly (non-standard shaped) marking ensure that you have updated the Marking Type dropdown in the Create form before you select your points.

Selecting the Marking location
Regular Marking
Selection is done with in a 'click and drag style'. Click at the top left corner of the area that you want your marking created then, while holding the left mouse button, drag the cursor to the bottom right side of the area and release the mouse button. You will get a blue outline with white square 'handles' at the corners. You can use these handles to make your selection more precise, as needed.
Poly Marking
After you have changed the Marking Type dropdown on the form to the Poly option, you can click each corner of the area that you want to create. Then a blue outline with white square 'handles' at each corner, and halfway point between corners, will appear so that you can adjust each corner as needed to create the outline. You will also see a darker blue area that will be used as the label area.
TIP: You can make your 'crosshair' selection tool snap to option gridlines to ensure that you are lining up your resulting box with the layout of your booths. See the Options section to learn more.
Form
Description
This is for your reference and is not displayed to website visitors and is a required field. Type in your preferred text. TIP: Include information that describes where the marking is, and the purpose, [ex. Sponsor Area Highlight, Pavilion 2]
Marking Type -
- Regular: Default. Makes rectangular 'boxes'.
- Poly: Choose to makes non-standard shapes [ex. angled sides, more or less than 4 sides]
Coordinates (Lx,Ly,Rx,Ry) This will display the coordinates that you have selected
Fill Color : The default is light grey, to choose a different color us the color-picker tool by clicking into the box, and clicking on the color you would prefer.
Fill Opacity: The default is 255. This controls how filled in the color is for solid markings. The range goes from 255 (Completely Opaque) to 0 (Completely Transparent).
Line Thickness: The default is 1. This controls the pixel thickness of the outlines. You can change the thickness of the outlines by choosing a higher number from the drop down.
Line Style: The defualt is Regular. Additional choices are Dashed and Dotted. To change styles, choose your preferred style from the dropdown.
Line type
- Caption: This is the default, only the Label will display.
- Outline: The uses the Label, Line Thickness, Line Style, Marking Color
- Solid: Outline Thickness, Opacity Value, Marking Color
Label
- Text - Type in the label text that will display on the marking
- Color - Default - Black, to choose a differnt color us the color-picker tool by clicking into the box, and clicking on the color you would prefer.
- Direction
- Horizontal - Default. This is the standard Right to Left text display option
- Vertical - Display the text at a 90 degree angle
- Font Size - Default is size 8. You can select a different size from the dropdown. TIP: a size 10 fits very nicely in a 10' (3m) aisle.
- Font Style
- Regular - Default.
- Bold - makes the label text bold
- Align - Default is Left justified, select the Center or Right buttons if preferred.
- Vertical Align - Default is Bottom justified, select the Center or Top buttons if preferred.
Image
Drag and drop image files to add an image on top on your marking, or click into the box to launch your file explorer, where you can choose a file from you computer or server.
Images will stretch or shrink to fill the space.
File types that will be accepted include .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, and .png.
Use Line Type Solid or Caption (but not Outline) for your image markings.
Options
- Show Gridlines: The default is checked. When checked, gridlines that line up with the booths layout will display, these can be used to line up markings.
- Snap to Gridlines: The default is unchecked. When checked the crosshairs will 'snap' to the closest gridline to assist with creating markings that line up with your booth layout.
Submit
- Submit will save your marking.
- Reset will clear out the whole form.
- Cancel will close the functional menu.
Helpful Hints
- If the event has multiple Maps, create Markings on the Child Map. The Markings are then automatically displayed on the Parent Map.
- Unlike NES, Markings can be created to overlap other markings, NES, or booths.

Step 1: Click the Floorplan button on the left toolbar or in the top right hand corner

An image can be placed on the floor plan by using the Marking Image. Use the browse option to search your computer or linked server for the image, and upload. For best results use Marking Line Type Solid. The image you upload will be made to conform to the size marking that you have created. |
Helpful Hints
- If you are creating multiple markings, you can turn on Clickable Markings in the Display Settings. In the top right corner, click the wrench, Display, Clickable Markings and then hit Apply.
